Esri Canada GIS Centre of Excellence
Esri Canada, the leading provider of geographic information system (GIS) solutions, launched its Centres of Higher Education Excellence initiative in 2014. Through this program, Esri Canada aims to encourage innovation in GIS research and promote teaching excellence in spatial data management and analysis in higher education institutions across Canada.
Since 2017, the Department of Geography and Environment has been selected as one of 11 schools cross Canada to launch the Esri Canada Centre of Excellence (ECCE) program. Each year students at ECCE designated institutions are asked to participate in the Annual App Challenge using open data and Esri technology. In addition, student associates are given the opportunity to access free instructor-led training courses and participate in local Esri Canada User Conferences.
